It seems that there are a number of evangelical people who seem to revel in their self-criticism, or rather, their criticism of the current incarnation of the Christianity they profess to hold. They point out the inconsistencies that essentially have  always been with us, and then think themselves original and “hip” to have done so. It’s somewhat narcissistic, and not unlike the current President of the United States who hasn’t found anything really worthwhile in the U.S. of A., but still wants to be President.  And sometimes, they veer off into a version of liberalism that would have been quite recognizable to both Harry Emerson Fosdick and J. Gresham Machen. Except, they still want to call themselves “evangelicals,” when it is clear to everyone but them that they have departed the boundaries.
